In fact, 58% of cyber attack victims are organizations with fewer than 250 employees.1 Even with a secure computer network, your business is subject to falling prey to wrongdoers. Based on current research, 39% of all breaches involve human triggers like phishing, social engineering, compromised email, or malicious insiders.2 Could your business reputationally or financially survive a data breach? Just think, the average cost of a cyber incident in the USA is $119,000!3 For less than $1 per day, your business can have $250,000 in coverage.

There are many misconceptions about cyber security out there.
We're here to dispel them for you.
MYTH!!!
58% of data breach targets are small businesses1. Hackers don’t care about the size of your business.
MYTH!!!
In reality there is information like personal addresses, emails, or credit card numbers which can make every business in every industry a potential target. Many times your business is not the intended target, but it is in the path to the hacker’s final destination. (You should read about Target’s 2013 breach.)
MYTH!!!
73% of black hat hackers said traditional firewall and antivirus security is irrelevant or obsolete1. Software like anti-virus or anti-malware are a good first step. But none are 100% effective as the malware variants change rapidly. Plus, software cannot stop an employee from clicking an infected link, or opening a malicious document.
MYTH!!!
They say a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Allowing employees to connect their personal devices to the corporate network becomes a whole new entry point for hackers. It only takes one weak link to cripple a system and bring down the entire network.
MYTH!!!
Most cyber attacks are triggered by someone on the inside. And it’s not typically the disgruntled employee, or an ex-employee with a grudge (in fact these folks make-up only a small percentage). In fact, it’s just an unsuspecting worker clicking on the wrong link, or opening an infected attachment that unleashes the threat to your network resulting in a massive data breach.
MYTH!!!
Oh no you won’t. This was true years ago when viruses would slow down your computer, load pop-ups, and cause other simple mischief. Today’s malware is highly complex and extremely stealthy. Most sophisticated viruses sit on your computer, avoiding any detection. In fact, on average it takes an astonishing 207 days for a breach to be identified!3
Compliant? YES.
Safe…NO.

Being compliant does not mean you are secure. It only means that your business is compliant with industry data regulations.
MYTH!!!
There are certainly highly sophisticated programmers seeking to impose widespread disruption. However, at the other end of the spectrum anybody with as little as $100 and a computer can be the “bad guy.” You see, malware, ransomware, and hacked email addresses can easily be bought “off-the-shelf” in the black market or deep web just like any other product. Once in hand, it takes just a click of a mouse and another attack is underway.
MYTH!!!
How many of us use the same password over and over? Even if we regularly change them, even the strongest may not hold up against multiple break-in attempts. No password is 100% secure, no matter how many numbers and special characters you use in your passwords, there’s always a possibility that it can be cracked or more likely leaked in some way.
MYTH!!!
They’re good, just not superhuman. An IT department will certainly take the lead in making sure that network protection is robust. But, it is every employee’s responsibility to make sure they are operating in a cyber safe manner.
